eMessaging and Inmate Mail

eMessaging is available to inmates at the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office through www.securustech.net or through the Securus smartphone app.   eMessaging allows two-way communication with your friend or family member.  Benefits include:

• Share photos and eCards for Birthdays, Celebrations or “Missing you” moments
• Snap n’ Send a photo
• Prepay a message foryour loved one to reply

All eMessages sent and received are subject to being read by law enforcement staff.  After one successful eMessage between an eMessage user and an inmate, the inmate can purchase eMessages from his or her account to initiate messages to the approved eMessage user

Inmate Mail
All inmate mail must contain the sender’s full name and complete return address, the inmate’s full name (the name he/she is booked into jail under), and the inmate’s jail identification number. If incoming mail does not have this information on it, it will be returned to the sender. Letters with no return address or improper addresses will be sent to the U.S. Post Office for final disposition.

With the exception of legal mail, all inmate postal mail will be inspected.  Upon approval, all inmate postal mail will be scanned into the inmate's Securus Technologies account.  The inmate will be able to view the scanned mail using the Securus Digital Mail Center available on either Securus Video Terminals or Tablets.

Incoming mail with perfume, fluids of any kind (to include lipstick), make-up, and other substances may be returned to the sender.

Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office Inmate Services, run by our Chaplain Ministry, accepts paperback books and magazines as donations. Hardbound books are not permitted. All books and magazines become property of the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office Inmate Services upon receipt and will be distributed to the intended inmates after being vetted for appropriate images and other content.
Books and magazines must be delivered by the United States Postal Service (USPS) and must be sent to the following address:

If mail is sent “Signature Required” or if a signature is required at delivery, the package will be returned to sender.

The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office is not responsible for any lost, damaged, or destroyed publications.

The following items may NOT be sent to inmates. Unauthorized items received through the mail will be considered contraband and the entire package may be confiscated and disposed or returned to sender. Unauthorized items will not be stored in the facility’s property room.

• Musical greeting cards
• Blank envelopes, writing paper, drawing paper, notepads, greeting cards, etc.
• Pens, pencils, markers, other writing instruments
• Obscene pictures (Pictures depicting FULL or PARTIAL nudity)
• Packages
• Stickers
• Cash
• Food or food items
• Contraband
• Stamps
• Computer-generated materials downloaded from the Internet
• Medicine

Photographs will only be accepted if they are deemed not offensive, are not of a sexual nature, do not contain gang references, are completely unaltered, and do not display guns, drugs or drug paraphernalia. Photographs shall not be larger than 8” x 10”.

Legal paperwork from attorneys may be received, but the front of the envelope must be marked "Legal Mail-Open only in the presence of the inmate."
