The Burglary and Theft Unit investigate cases that encompass felony theft crimes to include:

  • Residential & Commercial Burglaries
  • Theft of Property Cases
  • Construction Theft

Detectives review each case and pursue any leads that could likely lead to the arrest of a suspect(s) or the recovery of the stolen property. These Detectives handle a high volume of cases and work closely with our Patrol Deputies and other agencies to share information as well as identify regional crime trends.

Your case is very important to us and may take some time. Since the likelihood of recovering stolen property often depends on the reporting of each item’s serial number and other identifying details please use the Property Inventory Form to make a list of your valuable belongings and keep the list in a safe place.

Should you become the victim of a burglary, you will readily be able to provide valuable information to law enforcement officers. The more detailed information about stolen items; especially serial numbers, the better the opportunities for recovery. It is important to list model numbers with serial numbers as manufacturers may repeat serial numbers on the same type item of different models. You should also photograph any item without a serial number.

Additionally, you should update your inventory each time you obtain additional item and review the sheet annually.
