The District Attorney's Internship Program provides legal and collegiate interns with “hands-on” experience in all aspects of criminal prosecution. Interns are assigned to work with a supervising attorney on a daily basis in one of the following divisions: Appellate, Child Abuse, Civil, Economic Crimes, Family Violence, General Felony, Juvenile, Mental Health, or General Misdemeanor. Interns will have the opportunity to assist prosecutors in the preparation of cases for prosecution and will regularly provide assistance in the courtroom. Interns may also have the opportunity to litigate contested matters before the courts.
Many prosecutors in the Fort Bend County District Attorney’s Office and surrounding counties are former interns. Although the office does not pay interns, and no employment relationship should be implied, internships are valuable experiences that have led many to successful careers.
Interns are responsible for setting a regular attendance schedule and complying with all mandates of their academic program, if enrolled. We require a minimum commitment of 20 hours per week for at least six weeks regardless of whether an intern is earning course credit or volunteering their personal time.
Interns are prohibited from working for a criminal defense attorney or firm during their internship here. This is a conflict of interest.
